Start your chapter

Starting a chapter is a great opportunity for individuals or groups who want to raise their service hours in a different way or in large amounts. It allows for more flexibility and leadership than traditional volunteering, and participants will gain more service hours through this method. In addition to hours, starting a chapter also helps improve leadership skills, as you'll be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing your own initiatives. Chapters do not require prior knowledge or experience, but they do require the drive and creativity to come up with projects or events—ideally about once a month or so. Each chapter will be expected to generate new ideas that align with Ever’s mission.

To ensure fairness and balance, there is a limit of two chapters per city, unless it is considered reasonable to allow more. If your city already has two existing chapters, you may choose to join whichever chapter you prefer.

Each chapter must have a treasurer to manage money, as well as someone to set up and organize events. These roles may be split between multiple people, depending on your chapter’s size and structure.

Some of the key benefits of starting a chapter include the ability to log your own hours, the freedom to shape your impact, and the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally. Chapter members are responsible for stating what they did for each hour earned, and Ever will add what counts as hours on the website to guide your reporting.

Finally, each chapter will be expected to hold events based on the assessment of their yearly plans and overall work efficacy. At a minimum, chapters must host at least two events per year, though more are encouraged to deepen your chapter’s impact.
